What can I expect from my Life Coaching experience?
That depends entirely on you. You and your coach will discuss what your goals and aspirations during yor initial session and where you would like to be at the end of your coaching time. Your coach will plan your coaching sessions around that outcome and achieving that depends largely on the work you put into it and your willingness and openness in engaging in the transformation process.
How many sessions does Life Coaching require?
While it depends of the particular issues being addressed, the work and time the client is willing to put into it and various other factors, Life Coaching is generally intended to be a short-term solution based process. Most problems can be dealt with in 3 to 7 session with 10-12 sessions being a maximum. Sometimes the client may resolve one issue in a a course of sessions and then decide to tackle a new area with an additional course of sessions. It is also possible that the resolution of one problem will allow the client to progress on their own in their personal growth after their initial life coaching sessions. . It is very individual for each client.
What happens when my Life Coaching sessions are finished?
Each client is given an assessment at the end of their sessions and a plan for moving forward. Sometimes that plan includes a check-in session after a designated time period to see how things are going. Sometimes other learning experiences such as workshops, classes or events might be recommended or other self learning activities.
Would there be any benefit to just one or two coaching sessions?
There could be depending on your issue and what you want to achieve. You can certainly achieve some progress in one or two sessions. It is generally recommended to committ to a minimum of four to six sessions for real change and sometimes longer when more support and longer transitions are needed or greater transformations are expected.
Can Life Coaching work for changing habits like smoking, weigh loss, procrastination etc.?
Yes. These types of changes can definitely be facilitated by a good life coach using the tools of hynotherapy, NLP & Reiki.
I have been through counseling before. How is Life Coaching different?
Life Coaching generally approaches things differently than traditional counseling and uses a wider range of tools, while concentrating on end goals or outcomes. It is generally shorter term with regard to actual session with your coach and often more long term in arming the client with life coping skills they will be able to use going forward to deal with problems on their own.
Is information I share with my Life Coach confidental?
Absolutely, you should expect this as a matter of professional ethics.
What if I don't feel comfortable with my Life Coach?
Rapport and comfort are important aspects of the coaching process. If you don't feel comfortable, discuss this with your coach and perhaps they will be able to adjust their style or treatment to better suit your needs. If not, it is best to find a coach that you feel comfortable with. Most of the time a good coach will be happy to recommend someone else, who might be a better fit.
What if it doesn't work?
Generally speaking, this doesn't happen because your Life Coach will keep trying different approaches if one doesn't work, but it does depend on you as well. First ask yourself if you are putting your best effort forth? If you are and you still think it isn't working, then you may need to reaccess your goals and expectations or find another life coach who can better relate to you and what you are wanting to achieve.
What if I feel uncomfortable, emotional or upset during my sessions?
This is usually a sign of progress and should probably be expected to some degree. Most meaningful changes take us out of our comfort zone and often involve processes that bring up strong emotions, temporary discomfort and sometimes some confusion while we figure things out. Your Life Coach is trained to help you through these times and sticking with it usually turns out to be rewarding.
